YT-1300 Noephyn Way

Description

The Seventh Moon is a "near stock" central-foreword cockpit variant of the YT-1300 light freighter. The modifications are relatively light: triple bunk racks in the crew quarters; an enlarged galley/lounge area (to help keep the ship from feeling crowded); an eight-man escape pod (in ADDITION to the standard five single occupant escape pods typically accessed from the floor of one of the cargo holds); and a ventral turret to go with the dorsal turret (a pretty common after market mod for many YT-series freighters)

1: The Cockpit.
The cockpit is securable, and has four crew stations. While everything CAN be run from either the pilot or copilot seats, the addition of two other stations allows for more delegation for added performance if there are trained crew available for them. Alternately, the stations can be restricted to limited access or locked out entirely so the rear seats can serve as observational stations instead.

2: Cockpit Access Corridor
This corridor leading to the cockpit slants upwards slightly, as the cockpit itself sits above the foreword mandibles. While not as easily seen as it would be if the cockpit was located either port or starboard, the alcove between the mandibles is still there. Cargo can betaken directly into the forward airlock for loading into the forward cargo hold. This is also where the missile rack is located.

3: Hub Corridor
This semi-circular corridor is fairly standard. The only deviation from the stock design is that it gives way to make more room for a larger aft cargo hold.

4: Forward Cargo Hold
The second largest cargo hold on the Noephyn Way, and a bit larger than a more standard forward cargo hold for a YT-1300. Cargo and crew can be loaded or unloaded from the cargo elevator, the hub corridor, or the forward airlock. Passengers are not typically permitted to embark or disembark through any cargo hold.

5: Crew Quarters.
This cabin serves as the crew's living area and administrative office. There is a double bunk, several lockers, and a desk with a terminal link to the ship's computer for convenience. The crew has their own shower and head in this cabin. There's a large floor access panel located here, leading into the ship's computer and circuitry bay and a warren of under-deck maintenance crawlspaces, so all those extra lockers probably have tools and spare parts for the systems that can be reached from here.

6: Passenger Quarters.
This cabin have two racks of double bunks, for a total capacity of four passengers. The top bunks on each rack can be raised up against the ceiling via track mountings in the walls to get them out of the way when not occupied. This cabin has its own shower and head for passenger use.

7: Port Boarding Ramp (and Airlock).
This access corridor is primarily used for manual cargo loading when using the cargo elevators or forward airlock would be inconvenient. It is functionally identical to the starboard boarding ramp and airlock in every way. Entry can be gained either by ramp, or when the ramp is up, by an outer hatch at the end of the corridor.

8: The Gunwell Access
This small alcove leads to a ladder extending to the dorsal gun turret and ventral observation window. Be mindful of the shift in gravitic orientation that takes place about halfway to either gunner station.

9: The Galley Station
This small alcove houses a standard automated galley dispenser for distributing food and drink to the passengers and crew. It serves hot and cold rations and beverages in disposable containers. The selection isn't very wide, but changes occasionally as it is restocked.

10:The Lounge.
This alcove is across the central corridor hub from the starboard boarding ramp and airlock, near the passenger and crew cabins. The table has a built in holographic entertainment system suitable for games and holovids.

11: Starboard Boarding Ranmp (and Airlock)
This access corridor is generally used as the main access point for both crew and passengers. It is functionally identical to the port boarding ramp and airlock in every way. Entry can be gained either by ramp, or when the ramp is up, by an outer hatch at the end of the corridor.

12: The Port Cargo Hold.
Nothing special here other than the double wide hatch leading to the central corridor hub. Even the loading elevator is a fairly standard feature.

13: The Main Cargo Hold and Engineering Bay.
The largest hold with the largest cargo elevator. A bit larger than would otherwise be standard, as the space otherwise used for the aft section of the hub corridor has effectively been annexed to make even more room for cargo. Just aft of the cargo elevator are the deck hatches for the five standard single occupancy emergency escape pods. The engines can be accessed from here, making the main cargo hold serve double duty as the engineering bay by default.

14: The Starboard Cargo Hold.
Nothing special here other than the double wide hatch leading to the central corridor hub. Even the loading elevator is a fairly standard feature.

The Noephyn Way has a slightly expanded freight layout when compared to similar YT-1300 freight layouts, but is officially rated to 100 tons of cargo capacity (and the original owner lamented his decision to move the lounge into the corridor rather than leaving it in one of the holds, as doing so has not led to being legally permitted to carry more cargo internally), with only a few modifications for crew and passenger comfort. It still has (and uses) both of its port and starboard boarding ramps and airlocks, but its easy to see why many YT-1300 owners like to swap out one of these for an emergency access ladder and at least a six seat multiple occupant escape pod.

The complete lack of even the traditional optional extra weapons (ventral turret and forward missile launchers) implies that the Noephyn Way mainly operates along "safe" trade routes where patrols are so heavy that it's actually less of a hassle to just have the bare minimum amount of defensive weaponry that comes with a cargo vessel. As such, expect the captain to charge extra for any trips away from such areas. If encountered in the outer rim territories or Hutt space, it is highly likely that their next trip will be towards either the core worlds or the corporate sector.

Really wish I was into gaming (or had friends to game with) again because these resources are awesome! Where were they when I was younger? Oh yeah, that was twenty odd years ago.
